1975-06-30 Victor Galindez w pts 15 Jorge Ahumada, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - WBA. Referee: Jimmy Devlin. Scorecards: 9-5, 10-3, 6-2. Having won twice from three meetings between the pair, Galindez (174) was expected to retain his title against Ahumada (175) and when a left hook to the jaw sent the latter hurtling to the floor at the end of the third that looked to be on the cards. Showing great character Ahumada battled his way back and was going well when a clash of heads opened up a bad cut on Galindez’s left eye. Stirred up, Galindez began his charge for home and by the 11th he was well in control, his strength pushing Ahumada back. It remained that way even when Galindez was cut on the right eye from another head clash in the 13th and the last three sessions being among the most brutal seen in recent times.
