1975-10-12 [[Alexis Arguello]] w co 5 (15) [[Royal Kobayashi]], Kuramae Arena, Tokyo, Japan - WBA. Referee: Carlos Padilla. Bringing height and reach advantages to the ring gave Arguello (125½) the opportunity to utilise his fast left jab, and by the third round the challenger’s left eye was almost closed. Obviously at a disadvantage, Kobayashi (125¾) was rarely able to penetrate Arguello’s guard with his favoured hooks and hard counters coming his way eventually took their toll. In the fifth, as Kobayashi came forward he was belted by a left-right to the head before a left hook to the body dropped him for the full count with 13 seconds of the round remaining.
