1975-11-15 [[Antonio Cervantes]] w rtd 7 (15) [[Hector Thompson]], New City Gym, Panama City, Panama - WBA. Referee: Isaac Herrera. Settling down with a long left jab, the champion was soon in control and began to open up as the contest progressed, to such an extent that Thompson (138¼) was badly hurt by combinations of lefts and rights in the fourth and nearly finished off. Although still gamely trying to get into the fight, the Aussie was continually punished and forced to take an abundance of heavy blows driven in by Cervantes (139¼), which culminated in him sustaining a bad cut over the right eye in the seventh. With Cervantes way out in front and with Thompson in such bad condition, his corner wisely retired him before the eighth could get underway.
