1975-12-04 Guts Ishimatsu w co 14 (15) Alvaro Rojas, Nihon University Auditorium, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Yusaku Yoshida. Having previously been set problems by the aggresive Tury Pineda, the champion was given the task of dealing with another fighter of that ilk in Rojas (135), who proved both courageous and durable. With Rojas coming forward throwing punches incessantly Ishimatsu (135) went on the back foot with the right counters being his best weapon, but in the tenth the former came forward with a view to finishing the contest there and then. Blasted around the ring from the champion’s two-fisted attacks, Rojas somehow survived to come on strong during the next three sessions, but towards the end of the 14th Ishimatsu finally nailed him with a tremendous right uppercut to the jaw. Crashing down heavily, although Rojas made a despairing attempt to get up he was counted out with just one second of the round remaining.
