1976-01-25 Saensak Muangsurin w pts 15 Lion Furuyama, Nihon University Auditorium, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Enrique Jiminez. Scorecards: 146-143, 148-139, 147-144. Fighting the man he beat in his second pro contest, the southpaw champion came under pressure in the opening three rounds as Furuyama (140) attacked the body with lefts and rights. With Muangsurin (139) hitting back hard from the fourth onwards, Furuyama was cut over the left eye in the sixth before sustaining similar damage over the right eye in the eighth, injuries which saw both eyes beginning to close over the last three sessions. In the latter part of the fight, Muangsurin began to get right on top, landing lefts and rights almost at will as Furuyama had great difficulty in seeing properly, and while the decision in his favour was unanimous the Thai judge who gave it as 148-139 seemed way out of line.
