1976-10-08 Miguel Castellini w pts 15 Jose Manuel Duran, Sports Palace, Madrid, Spain - WBA. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 146-142, 147-144, 146-147. Boxing on the back foot, once the champion was knocked down in the third round following a right to the head, and realising the added power of Castellini (153¼), he stayed in the countering position for the rest of the contest. Duran (153) became even more negative after a clash of heads in the fifth left him cut on the forehead and Castellini suffering a two-inch gash over the left eye. Instead of picking it up at that point, Duran continued to land light, tapping blows to the head whilst on the run, while Castellini, always looking to make the fight, put in a fast finish over the last few sessions to make sure of the decision.
