1976-10-10 Royal Kobayashi w rsc 8 (15) Rigoberto Riasco, Kuramae Arena, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Jay Edson. A poor contest before the start of the seventh round, Riasco (122), who was somewhat lacking after struggling to make the weight, was belted to the floor in that session following a left hook to the jaw. In the eighth, Riasco was again dropped by the challenger, this time by a heavy right hand to the jaw. Having beaten the count, it was noticeable that Riasco was open to any sustained attack from Kobayashi (122) and at that point the referee stopped the contest with 2.12 of the round remaining.
