1976-11-13 Carlos Zarate w co 4 (15) Waruinge Nakayama, General Angel Flores Stadium, Culiacan, Mexico - WBC. Referee: Anselmo Escobedo. Dominating from the opening bell, Zarate (117½) soon went to work, sending Nakayama (117) to the canvas three times in round three before the Kenyan-born challenger, once known as Philip Waruinge and a former Olympic silver medallist, was saved by the bell. Charging out for the fourth, Zarate tore into Nakayama, and following a series of solid head punches the latter was despatched to the canvas by a tremendous right hand to be counted out.
