1977-01-15 [[Saensak Muangsurin]] w rsc 15 (15) [[Monroe Brooks]], Municipal Stadium, Chiang Mai, Thailand - WBC. Referee: Marcello Bertini. During the first eight rounds it seemed as though the slick challenger might be just too skilful for Muangsurin (139½) as he stepped around the ring tossing in fast combinations and flashy right hooks to the latter’s head. However, by the ninth, Muangsurin’s pressure was beginning to pay off as Brooks (139½) started to feel the pace and as the rounds progressed the American was forced to take more and more punches. With three rounds remaining the end was in sight and in the 14th, having taken a tremendous southpaw left hook to the head, Brooks was given a standing count. Showing much resilience Brooks recovered to make the final session, but after being dropped twice and all at sea he was wisely rescued at 1.55 when the referee realised he had nothing left.
