1977-03-17 [[Alfredo Escalera]] w rsc 6 (15) [[Ronnie McGarvey]], Roberto Clemente Stadium, San Juan, Puerto Rico - WBC. Referee: Abraham Echevarria. Despite giving it everything he had, and even slugging out with Escalera (130) at times, the southpaw McGarvey (127) was just too small for a champion who ultimately made his power pay in the sixth round when a left-right combination sent him down flat on his back. Although McGarvey, who was cut over both eyes in the third and fourth, managed to get to his feet the referee had seen enough and brought matters to a head on the 2.03 mark.
