A wild, swinging affair saw the big punching Espadas (111) finally overcome the neat-boxing of Lopez (111), who finished with cuts over both eyes. Having made a good start, the champion was pegged back by Lopez’s better work, but by the 12th the challenger had shot his bolt and was overwhelmed and rescued by the referee in the next round.
