1977-05-22 Yoko Gushiken w pts 15 Rigoberto Marcano, Makomanai Ice Arena, Sapporo, Japan - WBA. Referee: Marty Denkin. Scorecards: 70-69, 75-67, 68-72. Showing good defensive skills, the upright Marcano (106¾) was always in the contest and it was probably only his lack of hitting power that let him down, while the southpaw champion, Gushiken (107¾), was always busy, especially in the last third of the fight as the challenger faded. There were no knockdowns.
