1977-12-30 Saensak Muangsurin w rsc 14 (15) Jo Kimpuani, Tung Na-Chai Stadium, Chanthabun, Thailand - WBC. Referee: Marcelo Bertini. Defending his title for the sixth time in a year, Muangsurin (138) began to get on top of Kimpuani (136½) from the third round when he forced his rival into a corner and battered him through to the bell with solid blows. Kimpuani had started well in the opening session, scoring well with sharp jabs, but he was now under attack and in the fifth he sustained a badly cut mouth, an injury which saw him really up against it as Muangsurin went after him at every opportunity. To his credit, although under extreme pressure from the southpaw champion continuously, Kimpuani kept going despite the injury worsening until a series of big punches had him in desperate trouble in the 13th. The referee allowed Kimpuani to continue into the 14th even though he was way down on the cards, but with blood everywhere he called the doctor who immediately signalled that it was all over.
