Line 1: Line 1:
1978-03-11 [[Rocky Mattioli]] w co 7 (15) [[Elisha Obed]], Kooyong Stadium, Melbourne, Australia - WBC. Referee: Dick Young. After a fairly uneventful opening round, Mattioli (151½) began to release some heavy punches in the second and it could be seen that the challenger had become extremely wary. Continually forcing his way inside and pounding Obed (153) with shots from both hands was the way forward for Mattioli and despite being held at every opportunity he concentrated on the body, knowing that the man from the Bahamas was weakening. Eventually, Mattioli caught up with Obed, staggering him with a right to the jaw, and after landing a few more heavy blows the latter went down face first to be counted out at 1.07 of the seventh.
