1978-05-06 [[Victor Galindez]] w pts 15 [[Yaqui Lopez]], Circus Tent, Via Reggio, Italy - WBA. Referee: Mario Riva. Scorecards: 148-146, 148-145, 146-144. Fighting a cautious battle, the challenger failed to do enough work to warrant the decision and went down narrowly on all three cards as in their previous contest. Although he came forward for much of the time, Lopez (172) allowed Galindez (172) too much space and was open to countering right uppercuts and left hooks. Galindez, who finished with a swollen right eye, even showed a smart left jab at times that flummoxed Lopez and made him even more wary. At the final bell, it was agreed that Lopez had fought well, but had failed to do enough work to warrant the decision.
