1978-08-26 [[Antonio Cervantes]] w rsc 9 (15) [[Norman Sekgapane]], Independence Stadium, Botswana, South Africa - WBA. Referee: Luis Sulbaran. Tit for tat during the opening three rounds, the champion landing with excellent left jabs while Sekgapane (139¼) busied himself on the inside, the tide changed in the fourth as Cervantes (139) cut loose and knocked the South African over with a left hook. Continuing with the left hook and supplementing it with the uppercut, Cervantes put Sekgapane down twice more in the sixth and again in the ninth after connecting with a volley of combinations. Back on his feet, Sekgapane was soon down again, only this time the referee stopped it at 1.52 after the brave challenger got up on unsteady legs and tried to continue.
