1978-11-10 Alexis Arguello w pts 15 Arturo Leon, Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Davy Pearl. Scorecards: 146-139, 146-139, 145-140. Although Arguello (130) was faster and stronger than his challenger, whom he stalked throughout, he was unable to add another inside-the-distance victory to his record and many good judges were certain that his well publicised weight-making difficulties were responsible. The only real action came in the sixth when Leon (128¼) was dropped for ‘eight’ by a short left hook, but the Mexican was able to stay out of harms way for the rest of the contest in what was a lacklustre affair.
