1979-03-09 Wilfredo Gomez w rtd 5 (15) Nestor Jimenez, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. How Jimenez (122) managed to survive the first round was amazing, and how he stayed around so long was even more amazing as he was outclassed and brutalised throughout the proceedings by a fired-up Gomez (122). Finally, in the fifth, after Jimenez was dropped to the floor by a left hook, although there were just 39 seconds of the session remaining the challenger’s corner threw the towel in.
