1979-06-03 Lupe Pintor w pts 15 Carlos Zarate, Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Mills Lane. Scorecards: 143-142, 143-142, 133-145. In a battle of stablemates, Zarate (117½) showed none of his much vaunted hitting power, although putting Pintor (118) down in the fourth, and surprised all by his tactic of boxing on the back foot. Despite that he still appeared to have well outscored the challenger, who attacked without any real success and was certainly supported by one of the judges, while the other two felt Pintor had done enough. Regardless of the result, which was heartily booed when announced, the variation on one of the scorecards was far too wide for comfort and would need examination.
