1979-06-23 Ricardo Cardona w pts 15 Soon-Hyun Chung, Changchung Gym, Seoul, South Korea - WBA. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 146-145, 146-144, 146-144. An eagerly awaited rematch was again closely fought and again ended in favour of Cardona (120½) as the champion just about kept his nose in front of the dangerous Chung (121), only this time without the riots. However, there was a disgraceful scene at the end of the tenth round when one of Chung’s seconds threatened the referee and Cardona’s corner with a pair of scissors before being escorted away by the police. There were no knockdowns, but the crouching Chung made life difficult for Cardona, who relied on his jab and uppercuts to win the nod.
