1979-07-08 Alexis Arguello w rsc 11 (15) Rafael Limon, MSG Theatre, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. Despite the lack of knockdowns it was a hard-hitting affair between an excellent champion in Arguello (130) and Limon (129), a durable southpaw who was badly cut in the first round. After complaining to the referee that he had been butted, Limon, not protecting himself, was forced to take a terrific blow to the jaw before coming back with punches of his own. Although Arguello picked up virtually every round through to the finish it was never one sided and always competitive right up until the referee decided that the gash on Limon’s forehead was too bad for him to continue at 1.40 of the 11th.
