1979-07-08 [[Alexis Arguello]] w rsc 11 (15) [[Rafael Limon]], MSG Theatre, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. Despite the lack of knockdowns it was a hard-hitting affair between an excellent champion in Arguello (130) and Limon (129), a durable southpaw who was badly cut in the first round. After complaining to the referee that he had been butted, Limon, not protecting himself, was forced to take a terrific blow to the jaw before coming back with punches of his own. Although Arguello picked up virtually every round through to the finish it was never one-sided and always competitive right up until the referee decided that the gash on Limon’s forehead was too bad for him to continue at 1.40 of the 11th.
