1979-10-04 Sang-Hyun Kim w co 11 (15) Masahiro Yokai, Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Ray Solis. Cool from the start, the southpaw champion showed an excellent defence in the face of the bombs being sent in by Yokai (140) early on and before long he was sending in some of his own. With Kim (139½) boxing in a controlled fashion he was in command in all but the sixth as Yokai chased him down, but following that he had moved up a gear and was dominating all the action as he countered his rival heavily. By the tenth Yokai’s left eye was showing signs of damage, but after an inspection by the doctor he was allowed to carry on, only to run into some powerful blows followed by a left smash to the head which saw him counted out at 2.01 of the 11th.
