1979-10-04 Sang-Hyun Kim w co 11 (15) Masahiro Yogai, Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Ray Solis. Cool from the start, with the southpaw champion producing an excellent defence in the face of the bombs being sent in by Yogai (140) before long he was cracking in some of his own. Boxing in a controlled fashion, Kim (139½) was in command in all but the sixth as Yogai chased him down. He then moved up a gear to dominate the action when countering his rival heavily. Although Yogai’s left eye was showing signs of damage by the tenth he was allowed to carry on after an inspection by the doctor, only to run into some powerful blows followed by a left smash to the head which saw him counted out at 2.01 of the 11th.
