1979-10-21 [[Sung-Jun Kim]] w pts 15 [[Hector Melendez]], Munhwa Stadium, Seoul, South Korea - WBC. Referee: H. Beltini. Scorecards: 147-143, 144-143, 146-140. Overcoming an early deficit, Kim (107½) gradually got into the fight with body punches slowing Melendez (105½) down and as they came into tenth round there was no doubt that the champion was getting on top. By then, the Dominican had picked up cuts and was extremely tired, but somehow made it through to the final bell.
