1979-11-03 Jim Watt w rsc 9 (15) Robert Vasquez, Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, Scotland - WBC. Referee: Rudy Ortega. It did not take Watt (135) long to find his rhythm and by the third round he was pushing the challenger around the ring with southpaw jabs while dropping in the occasional left hook. By the fourth it was apparent that Vasquez (134½) had no answer to the jab, being bulled to the ropes where he began to absorb more and more punishment as the fight wore on. At 2.30 of the ninth, with Vasquez not fighting back, the referee stopped the contest in order to pull the American out.
