1979-11-30 [[Marvin Johnson]] w rsc 11 (15) [[Victor Galindez]], The Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA - WBA. Referee: Jesus Celis. Boxing coolly, the southpaw challenger had the fight well under control by the sixth, having cut Galindez (174¾) on the left eye and generally dominated him, and although the latter came back well with rights and lefts to the body in the eighth and ninth rounds it was not enough. Blow for blow in the tenth, within moments of the 11th getting underway Johnson (173½) sent Galindez crashing to the floor to be counted out after just 20 seconds of the session, having caught the Argentinian with a tremendous left to the jaw. Just short of a year and one fight later, Galindez was killed on 26 October 1980 in Argentina during an automobile race, after being struck by another car.
