1979-12-08 [[Marvin Camel]] drew 15 [[Mate Parlov]], Gripe Sports Centre, Split, Yugoslavia - WBC. Referee: Raymond Baldeyrou. Scorecards: 147-142, 143-143, 144-144. In what was the inaugural 190lbs title fight and a battle between southpaws, Parlov (189¾) started well with jabs and crosses finding Camel (184¼) early on before the latter came on strong in the middle rounds. From the ninth through the 12th Camel was on top as Parlov suffered a cut and swollen left eye, but from the 13th session onwards the Yugoslav just about shaded it although being forced to take some heavy head shots. With the result announced as being a draw the pair would have to go head-to-head yet again.
