1980-02-01 Rafael Orono w pts 15 Seung-Hoon Lee, New Circus Bullring, Caracas, Venezuela - WBC. Referee: Alfredo Fernandez. Scorecards: 150-145, 148-147, 148-143. Following the announcement by the WBC that they were setting up a new 115lbs weight class, Orono, the Venezuelan bantam champion, and Lee, the South Korean flyweight champion, were nominated to meet for the inaugural title. The fight itself was a boring one, with the more aggressive Lee (114¾), who was generally outclassed, unable to pierce Orono’s guard more than on the odd occasion. Although he injured his right hand in the second round, Orono (113½), relying solely on his left for the rest of the bout, had far too much skill for his game opponent and used his excellent footwork, fast reflexes, height and reach to good advantage.
