1980-03-14 Jim Watt w rsc 4 (15) Charlie Nash, Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, Scotland - WBC. Referee: Sid Nathan. Making a swift start, Nash (134¾) had the champion over in the opening round from a short right to the head, but soon had problems of his own when sustaining a cut over the left eye following a clash of heads. The next two sessions saw plenty of action as the two southpaws exchanged jabs and hooks before Watt (134¾) opened up in the fourth with rights and lefts to drop the man from Derry, who in falling pulled down the latter with him. Up at ‘nine’, Nash was soon down again, this time for ‘eight’. Watt was now in no mood to hang around. Throwing punches from both hands he drove Nash to the ropes prior to hammering in a left hook that dropped the Irishman for the third time and forced the referee to conclude activities for the night at 2.10 of the fourth.
