1980-03-31 [[Eddie Gregory (Mustafa Muhammad)]] w rsc 11 (15) [[Marvin Johnson]], Stokely AC, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - WBA. Referee: Carlos Berrocal. Having enforced the mandatory count of ‘eight’ in the third round following blows to head and body, the challenger, carrying a cut left eye, was well ahead by the eighth as Johnson (174½) laboured. Although Johnson occasionally found the target he was unable to shake Gregory (174), who always came right back at him. Wobbled in the ninth and hurt again in the tenth, Johnson was caught heavily in the 11th by a right to the jaw and after Gregory kept firing in blows without return at 2.43 of the session the fight was halted. From then on Gregory would be known by his Islamic name of Eddie Mustafa Muhammad.
