1980-04-14 Rafael Orono w pts 15 (Ramon Soria), New Circus Bullring, Caracas, Venezuela - WBC. Referee: Alberto Diaz Mendez. Scorecards: 149-145, 147-145, 145-143. Boxing in a restrained manner due to an injured left hand, the champion was pegged back for long periods and found it difficult to subdue Soria (114¾). However, all that changed in the 13th after Orono (114½) finally got through Soria’s defences to force a standing eight-count and the Argentinian was barely in the fight following that.
