1980-04-27 [[Alexis Arguello]] w rsc 4 (15) [[Rolando Navarrete]], Hiram Bithorn Stadium, San Juan, Puerto Rico - WBC. Roberto Ramirez. Although Navarrete (130) held his own for a couple of sessions, Arguello (130), punching with great precision and authority, was soon getting to him with stinging left jabs and hard rights. It was no surprise when Navarrete picked up damage over both eyes and due to the nature of the deep cut on his right eye the ringside doctor instructed the referee to call a halt during the interval between the fourth and fifth rounds. Having defended his crown eight times, Arguello relinquished the WBC version of the title in October to campaign as a lightweight.
