1980-05-04 Leo Randolph w rsc 15 (15) Ricardo Cardona, Centre Arena, Seattle, Washington, USA - WBA. Referee: Larry Rozadilla. Although Cardona (121¼), who had started well, dropped Randolph (121¾) heavily with a cracking right to the jaw in the sixth round, for the latter that was the turning point of the fight as he recovered well and came on strong to eventually batter the champion into submission. Following the knockdown Randolph began to pull way and by the 15th he was well out in front, his straight left being the main reason, before he piled in to Cardona with everything he had to enforce a stoppage on the 1.31 mark. Cardona collapsed afterwards suffering from exhaustion and haemorrhaging behind the right eye, but was later passed fit to resume his career.
