1980-06-28 Alan Minter w rtd 8 (15) Vito Antuofermo, The Arena, Wembley, London, England - WORLD. Referee: Octavio Meyran. With Minter (160) on top all the way, cutting Antuofermo (159¼) over the right eye as early as the opening session, it was soon clear that the latter was fighting a losing battle. Avoiding Antuofermo's reckless charges to counter with solid left crosses and right hooks, as the fight moved on Minter piled up the points with these tactics. Round after round Minter battered away at Antuofermo’s features, it coming as no surprise when the latter was pulled out at the end of the eighth, his face a mass of cuts and abrasions.

Marvin Hagler would be next for Minter, having beaten Loucif Hamani, Bobby Watts and Marcos Geraldo since his title draw with Antuofermo,
