1980-11-14 Jeff Chandler w rsc 14 (15) Julian Solis, Jai-Alai Fronton, Miami, Florida, USA - WBA. Referee: Carlos Berrocal. Defending his title for the first time, Solis (117½) was floored in the first round, cut over the right eye in the third, and stalked until he was rescued by the referee at 1.05 of the 14th when backed up against the ropes and not hitting back. Chandler (118), who proved to be a terrific box-fighter, had been in charge virtually all the way, his left jabs, left hooks and combination punches being too much for Solis to handle. He certainly lived up to the rave notices he had been getting as he fought his way to the top of the pile. Prior to the fight both men were unbeaten.
