1981-03-08 Cornelius Boza-Edwards w pts 15 Rafael Limon, Civic Auditorium, Stockton, California, USA - WBC. Referee: Dick Young. Scorecards: 146-140, 146-140, 143-141. Surviving a shaky start, Boza-Edwards (129) put Limon (129) down with a southpaw left to the face in the fifth round before both men were cut in the following session in what was turning out to be a savage affair. While Boza-Edwards stuck the right-hand jab in the champion’s face all night and countered with hooks and combinations, Limon, who had a point taken away in the 13th for a low blow, was always looking for the body where his punches could have more effect. The fight finished with Boza-Edwards cut over both eyes and Limon a bloody mess with damage to his mouth, nose, forehead and left eye. Limon had held the title for just 86 days.
