1981-03-22 [[Salvador Sanchez]] w rsc 10 (15) [[Roberto Castanon]], Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Davy Pearl. Although superior to his wild-swinging challenger in almost every sense, in the early stages Sanchez (126) appeared content to make good use of his five-inch reach advantage to score points rather than look for a quick finish. Eventually the fight came to life in the ninth round as Sanchez began to hammer Castanon (126) with lefts and rights, and continuing his advance in the next session he picked up where he left off and put Castanon down. Having taken a mandatory ‘eight’, Castanon was again pounded non-stop as Sanchez went for home, and at 1.09 of the session with the Spaniard stumbling backwards the referee stopped the contest.
