1981-05-30 Cornelius Boza-Edwards w rtd 13 (15) Bobby Chacon, Showboat Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Carlos Padilla. Taking the best punches that Chacon (130) could throw the champion stood his ground and by the tenth round had worn the American down in what had been up until then a war with neither man backing off and both throwing every punch in the book. In the 11th, Boza-Edwards (129½) began to come on strong, scoring at the rate of five to one, and in the 12th, with Chacon badly gashed over the left eye, there seemed no way back, especially as he was being pounded almost at will. Somehow Chacon made it to the bell and somehow he managed to last out the 13th, but at the end of that round the referee was called over to his corner to be told that he was unable to continue and had retired.
