1981-06-13 Marvin Hagler w rtd 4 (15) Vito Antuofermo, The Garden, Boston, Massachusetts, USA - WORLD. Referee: Davy Pearl. It was almost a lost cause for Antuofermo (158) after he suffered a bad cut in the opening round following a clash of heads and he was eventually pulled out at the end of the fourth following his right eye being opened up badly by another clash of heads. Several times the fighters’ heads came together as Antuofermo rushed in and it appeared that Hagler (160) merely left his head in, although he later said that he was getting set to throw left hooks. Whatever, it was clear that Antuofermo was not going to last, especially when solid southpaw punches put him down heavily in the third. Following the fight Antuofermo asked for a return on the grounds that he had been intentionally butted, but his request fell upon deaf ears.
