1981-08-15 Sergio Victor Palma w rsc 12 (15) Ricardo Cardona, Luna Park Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina - WBA. Referee: Zack Clayton. Having lost to the former champion some 18 months earlier in a closely fought contest, Palma (121¼) decided to assert his authority from the opening bell this time round and always appeared to be in control, with hurtful blows to head and body being his main asset. By the end of the 11th it seemed that all of the stuffing had been knocked out of Cardona (121), and although the ringside doctor examined him during the interval he was allowed out for the 12th session. However, after Cardona was floored and looked totally spent the referee finally stepped in and called the contest off on the 1.44 mark.
