1981-08-29 [[Rolando Navarrete]] w co 5 (15) [[Cornelius Boza-Edwards]], Pine Stadium, Via Reggio, Italy - WBC. Referee: Arthur Mercante. Carrying the attack to the champion from the opening bell, Navarrete (129¾), a fellow southpaw, indulged in a war of give-and-take and it was no surprise when both men were cut in the third round when their heads came together. However, it was Boza-Edwards (129½) who had come off worse, with blood pouring from a gash over his left eye and the referee looked hard and long before allowing the champion to come out for the fourth. Although getting to Navarrete with heavy punches, Boza-Edwards could now barely see and he was forced to take two counts after being hit, first by a left and then by a right, flush on the jaw. He somehow stumbled back to his corner before coming out vainly with the jab in the fifth, only to be met by a vicious right hander which sent him crashing to be counted out on the 1.41 mark.
