1981-08-30 Jose Antonio Avelar w co 2 (15) Tae-Shik Kim, Changchung Gym, Seoul, South Korea - WBC. Referee: Mills Lane. Starting fast from the opening bell, both fighters threw plenty of leather before Avelar (111½) set Kim (111¼) up with a series of combination punches and finished his challenger off with two great left hooks at 2.46 of the second round.

This would be the last 15-round WBC world title contest at the weight after the body decided on 12 rounds as from 1 January 1983.
