1981-09-12 [[Gustavo Ballas]] w rsc 8 (15) [[Sok-Chul Bae]], Luna Park Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina - WBA. Referee: Jesus Celis. Ballas (113¼) started cautiously, but began a steady offensive in the third round when stabbing his right into the challenger’s face and was soon punishing him unmercifully. Having made the decision to fight at close quarters, even that was uncomfortable for Bae (114½) as he was brought up short from heavy counters and he was soon carrying damage to his right eye and nose. In the eighth, Bae’s right eye was completely closed, which prompted the referee to call for the doctor, who advised that it was all over. The finish was timed at 2.38.
