1981-11-07 [[Tadashi Mihara]] w pts 15 [[Rocky Fratto]], War Memorial Auditorium, Rochester, New York, USA - WBA. Referee: Arthur Mercante. Scorecards: 144-143, 145-140, 142-142. Contesting the title vacated by [[Sugar Ray Leonard]], both men started well, with Fratto (153¼) the aggressor and Mihara (154) boxing well on the back foot, making for an interesting mix. Having surprisingly been dropped by a right in the fourth, Fratto began to work well on the inside during the middle rounds before Mihara picked it up in the tenth to come on strong from thereon. There was never much between them, but the fight swung Mihara’s way when Fratto’s work rate slackened off during the final third, as he looked to land heavy shots rather than point-scoring blows, and this ultimately cost him.
