1981-12-05 [[Arturo Frias]] w co 8 (15) [[Claude Noel]], Showboat Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Mills Lane. Coming into the fight at 11 days notice for [[Gonzalo Montellano]], the little known Frias (135) got down to business from the opening bell as he attacked the listless champion with all manner of punches to drive him to the ropes. While Frias kept up his head-down charge it was obvious that Noel (135) was not at the races and he was badly rocked in the third and fifth rounds. Despite looking as though he might be starting to roll in the sixth and seventh as Frias tired from his exertions, a crashing right exploded on Noel's jaw in the eighth just as he was starting a right uppercut of his own and he was counted out at 1.62 of the session.
