1982-01-16 Rolando Navarrete w co 11 (15) Chung-Il Choi, Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Manila, Philippines - WBC. Referee: Roberto Ramirez. In what was a savage action-packed fight with neither man giving an inch, the champion was smashed to the canvas in the fifth before getting up after the ‘eight’ count had been completed and immediately taking the fight to Choi (130) despite being in a dazed state. There was no let up and something had to give. With the gruelling pace taking its toll, Choi was dropped in the tenth from a burst of punches to the head and was saved by the bell before being set upon in the 11th. Attacking ferociously, Navarrete (130) had Choi in trouble again with body blows prior to a right hook dropping the South Korean heavily to be counted out at 1.35 in the act of rising.
