1982-03-21 [[Dwight Braxton (Muhammad Qawi)]] w rsc 6 (15) [[Jerry Martin]], Showboat Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Davy Pearl. Making his first defence, despite having to shift some excess before making the required weight Braxton (175) was soon into his stride and a right to the head in the first round warned Martin (173½) of what was likely to come. Twice Martin was put down in the second from a succession of heavy blows and returned to his corner with a cut over his right eye. Having somehow managed to get through the third and fourth, Martin was under heavy pressure in the next two rounds and when his gumshield was knocked out in the sixth and the referee rescued him with 30 seconds of the session remaining.
