1982-06-12 [[Michael Spinks]] w rsc 8 (15) [[Jerry Celestine]], Playboy Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBA. Referee: Jimmy Rondeau. Having sparred Spinks (173¾) on many occasions, Celestine (174¼) knew what he had to do and he certainly made life difficult for the champion in the opening seven rounds as he showed good defensive moves. At the start of the eighth, although well ahead, Spinks began to unload and a terrific right uppercut to the jaw dropped Celestine heavily. It certainly looked to be all over and despite Celestine getting up before the count could be completed the referee stopped the contest, the finish being timed at 1.58.
