1982-07-04 Aaron Pryor w rsc 6 (15) Akio Kameda, Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - WBA. Referee: Ernesto Magana. Forced to take a standing ‘eight’ count in the opening session after being put down by Kameda (139¼) wasn’t in the champion’s script, but he quickly rallied to drop his opponent twice in the second and again in the third before setting the tall southpaw up for the finish in round six. Being cut over the right eye following a clash of heads in the fifth merely made Pryor (139½) more determined when coming out for the sixth and although Kameda was able to stagger up from another couple of knockdowns, the end was in sight. It had become one-way traffic and with Pryor punching away without response, the referee called it off after 1.13 of the round had elapsed.
